The Ranch is here to help kids avoid becoming involved in the legal system. Why is it called the Sheriffs' Ranch? The idea of a youth ranch came from the Maryland Sheriffs' Association over 25 years ago. The Ranch was designed as a place that would allow at risk kids the opportunity to maximize their potential. Can I enroll my child at the Ranch? A child must be involved with the Department of Social Services (DSS) or Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) in order to be applicable for services from the Ranch. If you believe that your child could benefit from the services offered at the Ranch, please contact your local DSS (in Montgomery County DSS is known as the Department of Health and Human Services) or DJS office. Where are you located? The Ranch sits on 204 acres of rolling farmland in Frederick County, Maryland. Conveniently located on Route 80, two miles west of U.S. 270, the city of Frederick is within minutes, providing our youth with full access to shopping, sporting, cultural, and recreational activities. How can I help?
As
a nonprofit organization, we often utilize assistance from people looking to
help. People can help by donating time, money, supplies, or ideas. We operate a
mentoring program here at the Ranch that allows concerned people from the
community to actively work with our kids. |
